Outcome

Frank Andrade asked ChatGPT agent to find the best restaurants in the city he was about to visit and save them as a new Google Maps list with notes on signature dishes. It picked 10 restaurants, collected their signature dishes, paused for him to enter his Google login, then created and saved the list with notes; it took about 23 minutes.

Prompt Recreated prompt

The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote this from what it describes.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about anything important that's missing below. Keep them quick. Then do the task, checking in with me at the key points.

Goal: Research the best places to eat in a city I'm visiting and save them as a Google Maps list, each with a note on what to order.

What I can give you (ask for whatever's missing):
- City and neighbourhood I'm staying in
- Trip dates
- Cuisines I love or avoid, and any dietary needs
- Budget per meal
- How many places (default 10)

Rules:
- Use at least two independent sources (food guides, reviews) per restaurant; skip anywhere that looks permanently closed.
- For each place, note the signature dish, price level and whether booking ahead is needed.
- When Google asks me to sign in, stop and let me log in myself.
- Name the list '[CITY] food – [MONTH]' and don't change any of my other lists.
- If a site asks for a login, a CAPTCHA or payment details, stop and hand control back to me.
- Ask for my OK before you pay, book, send, submit or cancel anything.
- Check facts that can change (prices, opening hours, dates, availability, rules) against the official source, and tell me anything you couldn't verify.

Output: The saved Google Maps list, plus a table in chat: name, area, signature dish, price level, booking needed, source.

You'll know it worked when: the list appears in my Google Maps with a note on every place, and each place is open during my dates.

Before you finish: re-read my goal and constraints, check your answer against each one, and list anything you assumed or couldn't confirm.

  • On a 6-day family trip to Hong Kong and Macau, the PickEnough author checked AI travel advice against reality. ChatGPT and Claude were blocked by regional restrictions; of the tools that worked (Grok, Gemini and Perplexity), the author rated Grok the most accurate overall (7.2/10), with correct real-time navigation and local restaurant picks. Asked what was good to eat within 5 minutes while walking the Mid-Levels, Grok suggested a nearby egg-tart shop the author rated 4/5. Across the tools, transport predictions were within 10%, but restaurant cost estimates assumed 2 people even though the group was 4.
