Outcome

An Android Police writer replaced IFTTT, Medisafe and Todoist with Gemini scheduled actions he already had through Google AI Pro: a weekday morning briefing, a Monday news digest, two daily medication reminders and a morning top-three task list. He cancelled about $13 a month in subscriptions, but notes Gemini only sends reminders (no dose tracking or interaction warnings) and that he relies on one company for everything, which makes him uneasy.

Every weekday at 7 a.m., summarize my calendar, flag urgent unread emails, and give me a weather forecast.

Our rewrite with extra checks. The poster didn't test it.

Run this task now, exactly as written below. Everything you need is here, so start straight away and only stop if something required is missing or a rule below tells you to.

Goal: Set up scheduled reminders and briefings in an assistant I already pay for so I can cancel overlapping apps.

Fill in before running:
- Apps I pay for and what I actually use them for: [LIST]
- Times I need reminders: [TIMES]
- Assistant I already have: [e.g. Gemini with Google AI Pro]

Rules:
- For each app, say whether a scheduled action can cover what I use, and what I'd lose.
- Write the exact scheduled-action prompts with times.
- Point out anything safety-related (like medication) where I'd lose features such as tracking or alerts.
- Don't cancel anything; list the steps for me.
- If a site asks for a login, a CAPTCHA or payment details, stop and hand control back to me.
- Ask for my OK before you pay, book, send, submit or cancel anything.
- Check facts that can change (prices, opening hours, dates, availability, rules) against the official source, and tell me anything you couldn't verify.
- Keep the old app active until the new reminders have worked reliably for at least a week.

Output: A table: app, what I use, replacement prompt, what I'd lose, monthly saving.

You'll know it worked when: the replacements fire on time for a week before I cancel anything.

Before you finish: re-read my goal and constraints, check your answer against each one, and list anything you assumed or couldn't confirm.

  • After a check-engine light on his pickup, a driver read one evaporative-system code and the sensor readings, then asked Gemini and ChatGPT what they meant. Gemini suggested replacing the sensor; ChatGPT said to clear the codes and see if they came back. He cleared them, and after a long trip the code hadn't returned, avoiding a costly, labour-heavy part replacement for now.

  • An Android Police writer says Gemini fixed his main Google Calendar complaint, adding entries by hand. He asks Gemini by voice to schedule calls while out, uses it in Gmail to create events from invites, and sends it screenshots of concert-ticket presale times to make reminders. He notes it doesn't add guests automatically and the Gmail option doesn't always trigger on its own.
