Evidence: Described by posterThe person describes what happened in words, without screenshots or video.
PartialThe source says it only partly worked, or had a significant problem a person had to deal with.
What went wrong: Voice-mode practice helped, but memorising ChatGPT-written answers cost the writer a role: the Target interviewer said they sounded too scripted.
Context: The interviews themselves came mainly from cold emails to hiring managers; ChatGPT's part was interview practice.
Outcome
On their way to interviews at Microsoft, Bain and Sweetgreen, a job seeker who writes the Ambitious Slacker newsletter pasted job descriptions into ChatGPT and had it interview them in voice mode, answering out loud and asking for feedback. That practice helped. Having ChatGPT write answers to memorise backfired: after a final round at Target, the interviewer said they were the best candidate but the company chose an internal candidate because they sounded too scripted. Once they stopped memorising and practised a few stories out loud, they did much better.

Prompt Recreated prompt
The source didn't share its exact prompt, so we wrote this from what it describes.
Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about anything important that's missing below. Keep them quick. Then do the task, checking in with me at the key points. Goal: Run a realistic spoken mock interview for this job and give me feedback, without writing my answers for me. What I can give you (ask for whatever's missing): - The job description - My CV or a short summary of my experience - Three or four stories from my work I want to draw on Rules: - Ask one question at a time, out loud, the way this company's interviewers likely would. - Let me answer fully before giving feedback on structure, length and whether I answered the question. - Don't write model answers for me to memorise; point out which of my stories fits each question instead. - Throw in follow-up questions so I practise thinking on my feet. - Check facts that can change (prices, opening hours, dates, availability, rules) against the official source, and tell me anything you couldn't verify. Output: A spoken mock interview, then short notes on what to tighten and which stories worked best. You'll know it worked when: I can answer naturally in a real interview without sounding rehearsed.

Sends the Recreated prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini opens empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.
Opens in a new tab. We don't see what you send.

Before you finish: re-read my goal and constraints, check your answer against each one, and list anything you assumed or couldn't confirm.
